For the last two years, Everise has been investing in our work-at-home solution, and Christina Hackwell, was work-at-home employee number one. As a Team Lead for work-at-home in our Utah Home-Based Agent solution, her story is more important than ever. Amidst a global pandemic, working at home has become the new normal. Her she shares her the origin story, of how Everise helped her maintain a work-life balance through our work-at-home program.

 


For most employees, working means leaving the house and heading to the office to fulfill work duties. For Christina Hackwell, it used to mean that she would not be there when her daughter arrived home from school. All that changed for the better when she was given the opportunity to work at home.

"I started training here on site, and then once all of the systems were in place, the phone information was in place,  I was sent home. I was able to be home for my daughter. She would always be worried when she got home from school."

By having a remote workplace, Christina was able to be at home and fulfill her duties. This also improved her relationship with her daughter and gave the assurance that she was there whenever she was needed.

"It helped her to trust me more; trust in the fact that I wasn't going to leave her or be gone all day long."

This change in work environment also gave Christina the convenience of no longer needing to travel just to get home. It gave her more time to work on her other tasks at home and tend to her responsibilities as a mother. This also allowed her to occasionally fetch her daughter from school whenever she needed to. 

"It just made it more convenient. When I was off of work, I was off of work, and I was home already during my breaks and lunches to do chores around my house. I could clean the dishes or do laundry if I needed to. Also, if I needed to get my child from school, I could go quickly because I was closer to her school than if I were on site. "

Work-life balance is a goal that most employees and employers alike aim to achieve. By working under our work-at-home program, Christina was able to provide for her family and be there for them in their times of need.  She also shares that she moved to Utah 23 years ago with just her children and that she also considers Everise as part of her family now. We appreciate her and are happy to have Christina as part of the Everise family.
